Stereomandan,

Did you get a SES code at all due to your exhaust leak? I have a leak where the egr tube connects with the pass side header on my SLP shorties and have been getting a p0300 code. I put ultra copper silicone on the joint last night and will run the engine tonight to see if the code is still present.

Like Brent said, the cheap paper ones are fine. I would go with those or the Fel-Pros but a little tip.......soak them in the tub for atleast a couple hours before you put them on. They will expand from the water and will seal like a glove when you put them on.

I've had an SES light on since the install. It's because I disconnected my rear O2 sensors. I need to send the PCM to get reprogrammed to delete the rear O2's. Then I will know if I have a true SES light. The MAC midlength headers don't have provisions for rear O2's since they are made for '93-'95.

I sealed up the EGR tube last night just like you mentioned, so hopefully that's no problem.

Copy and paste

The shop that installed them for me said that they were the wrong gaskets... I don't remember what exactly was "wrong" about them because I probably had no idea what he was talking about at the time.

Did you take pictures of the leaks you could see at the collectors?

your supposed to use the orange high temp RTV with copper gaskets on each side.. not just head/gasket/header.. gott be head/rtv/gasket/rtv/header i run em on my big block and never have a single problem and have used them on many other cars with no problems... if you use just the gasket and no RTV you better have some PERFECT surfaces on the head and header

Stereomandan,

Did you notice that your engine missed at all? Mine has a slight miss; hopefully because of the exhaust leak.

I had a miss before I tightened my header bolts and collector bolts. It used to be pretty bad at 45 mph and immediately after that it was near perfect, its slowly coming back again though... Need to tighten them up again and maybe ill check out the collectors too.

So what does everyone recommend? Right now, I have been using stock gaskets doubled up with SLP's. Not really the ideal performance gasket and now starting to leak. I put a set of the Earl's on my brother's 92 Z and they seemed very nice. Problem is, I can't find them at any stores around here. Thanks,

Kyle

Percy's Seal-4-Good Header Gaskets

P.S. They're aluminum.

Yes because I'm going to be installing headers soon as well. I need to know what the best gasket is!

Nope, no misses. It runs pretty strong acutally. I would check to see if a plug wire is getting close to a primary and arcing.

Closed end 7/16" wrench. It's the kind where it's closed on both ends of the wrench and the ends have a s curve shape to them. Sorry, can't describe it better. It's a common closed end wrench with two sizes on it. 7/16" and I think 3/8"

I think that's the bolt you're talking about.
