Why the hell is my 95 Z28 Vert an OBD 2 ?

I bought a totaled 95 Z28 Convertible, got it all hooked up and finally got it started today ( On starter fluid , so timing is fine as well as opti ) but it is dying for fuel ... At any rate, my cuz who is a mechanic , was lookin under by the pedals and told me it has the OBDII plug , shouldn my 95 be OBD I ???

Is it a dual cat car? I guess half way through the year they started doin OBDII or it was the Cali cars that got it. not quite sure, but it is something along that line...

All 95s have the OBD2 ALDL connector, but are OBD1.

The mechanic is obviously not well versed on the 1995 LT1 f-body.

The 3.8 V6 that came in mid year 1995 f-bodies had OBD-II.

HardcoreRM125:

All the LT1 1995s had the OBD-II style connector, but they had OBD-I pcms. Under the hood you will see where it says what diagnostic system it has.
