Why does the car only miss in 3rd and 4th gear

I regapped the plugs at .040 and the car sounds and idles better but I still have the miss. I was really concentrating and it feels like there is a slight miss while crusing and under light throttle. The new wires will be here tommorow so maybe thatll be the fix.

Sounds like you're getting there. I'd be curious to see what your older wires resistance was. Do you have a voltmeter? Set to ohms and test the resistance of each wire as you pull it off. Then test the resistance of the new wires. I'm curious to see if one wire is way off...

Did you know that too large a plug gap can beat up your wires (increase resistance)? That was an interesting test we conducted a few years ago on several test engines.

Thats interesting. If I can find my voltmeter I will have to do that. Im guessing by now those wires are pretty beat up...
