Why can't I jack my engine up?

I put my car in Neutral, removed the tranny bolt, and removed 3 bolts holding the bracket to the block. I jacked from the oil pan, with wood blocks under the oil pan. The entire car jacked up, instead of the passanger side of the engine. I couldn't get the long single bolt out so I figured these would work the same. Any suggestions?

Perhaps the through bolt on the other motor mount is too tight to let the engine pivot?

Passenger side motor mount?

Why can't you get the single long bolt out? The A/C line are they.. but the rubber bends. I used a long pry bar and carefully squeezed it out inbetween the two lines.

I'd rather deal with the AC lines over getting the three bolts (which can sometimes be hard to line back up)

The only thing I can think of thats holding you back though, it something strong is in the way of the block.. or what shoebox said.

Would you suggest trying to get the long bolt out and jacking it up, or trying to get the car higher?

I'd give the long bolt a whirl... it's really not that hard. If still no luck... then the other side bolt must be really tight. Or like I said.. something else strong is catching/pinching against the fender wall etc...

once you get the long bolt out on the passenger side, i suggest putting it back in the opposite way, so the nut is at the front of the car. makes it alot easier to get out again if needed

also stick something in there (screwdriver etc.) and hit it with a hammer to knock the motor mount bolt out the front

The thing that gets ,e is why it wouldn't even budge while the 3 bolts where off. Maybe it was at a weird angle.

I gave up. I tried as hard as I could and the bolt just would not budge. I even jacked the engine up a little to releive the stress, it would not go with all my might.

I was just thinking something....would the body raise because the engine weighs a lot and is being lifted up off the frame, releiveing some weight off the springs? I stopped lifting as soon as I saw the body raise, I didn't want to break anything. If this is true? how high would you say it would raise? How much does our engine weigh?

When jacking up the engine, I thought the engine was still connected to the car somehow and the entire car lifted up. WHAT IT WAS, was the springs moving upward when I jacked it up. The tires were on ramps, the car wasn't on stands, so the springs were compressed. It eventually started tilting, went right in without a hitch, and NOW, I am going to sleep and finish it up tomarow. I have another question though. The black box that is connected to the AC lines is really close, like 1/4 inch away from the headers. They aren't completely hooked up yet, so they might move over, but either way, they look really close...is this safe?
