I do my own with Tunercat and Datamaster. I took it to the local dyno and did 3 pulls for $50 and dialed in the PE.

LT1edit mail list is where I learned how to do most of my tuning...great people there with alot more knowlege than myself when it comes to tuning.

Ion and Jordan Musser have tuned my car. I don't think they did anything wrong at all, actually I wish Ion could have taken the whole car and tuned it because what he did through the mail alone did wonders. I know it's not the tune so much as the whole package. Everyone around here is getting out of LT1 edit and jumping into LS1 edit.

PCMforless.com here and no complaints. Took 2 tries, and the BLMs are on the money while cruising. Best I have had yet. I haven't seen anyone mention Ed Wright yet, good. Stay away.

Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters in Durham, NC. From what I know, he doesnt do any mail order stuff, but if you are anywhere in the mid atlantic or southeast area and need tuning, seeing this guy is defenitley worth the trip

I've seen him pick up some amazing numbers on the rollers over mail order stuff and street tunes. Really good with driveability and part throttle stuff as well.
When the cam and other stuff goes in my ride next month, it will be headed straight to his rollers.

EDIT: He's apparently coming to Texas soon...

I also do my own tuning, Tunercat is by far the best tuning program ever made. Cheap, effective, and supports many different vehicles (although I'm still waiting on OBD2 support, arg! When is it going to finally get here?). I also do tuning locally in the Central Illinois area, for pretty much any vehicle TC supports. If you want mail order tuning, I recommend Madwolf.

my next question: How hard is it to tune yourself? I know a pretty good amount about computers and cars.

Hey Dupont, your right in the DFW area, call A&S Automotive and talk to Scott, 817-431-3150, he's in Keller, screw the mail order guessing. He specializes in LT1s ODB1 and 2. He's done alot of work for the Corvette club, including some nice 600+hp LT1 powered cars and even a 881rwhp LT1 Vette, and has access to a dyno. He did the LT4 conversion in my truck as well.

I use Tunercat and Datamaster for fine tuning, takes alot of time to learn to do it right, but once you do, you'll understand why mail order tuning is just hit and miss guessing for the most part. Until you learn, Scott can get you going with a custom tune for your combo and can dyno tune if you want to spend the $ for that.

Think I'm gonna go with Madwolf, but I also heard great things about PCMFORLESS. Really can't go wrong with those two.
