Alright, i want to throw a pair of headers on my 96 SS, but i live in CA and smog rules are really tight here, so i have to get shorties or midlengths so i dont relocate the cat.

Ive been looking at AS&M's, and MAC's. Anybody know of any other good companies?

Also is it better to get a dual cat Y Pipe or a single cat?

I'd go with AS&M, they're 1 3/4" vs. MAC which are 1 5/8". Someone dyno'd AS&M vs. long tubes and AS&M headers proved to be sufficient up to 850 hp.

 

id reccomend getting the AS&M headers. great quality, best midlength IMO.

 

I have MAC and they are great headers but i think i would go with the AS&M because of the 1 3/4" primaries.

 

RK Sport is another option.

I've had a set of RK and AS&M headers in my possesion at one point or another and they are very good quailty headers. For the price, you cant beat MAC's either...

I too have heard of 740+ HP with AS&Ms....install was pretty easy too, everything considered......
