Who knows ABS?

'94 Z-28 Auto.....Got an ABS code 95 (Brake Switch short or open). I looked at the brake pedal and there's two switches. One smaller one at the top and a two-plugged one near the bottom. I'm guessing the bottom switch is for the ABS, but not sure. Anybody had this code pop up on your cars?

There was also a code 76, but I found one of the 2-wire plugs disconnected from the ABS control.

The switch you want to check for code 95 has an orange and yellow wires going to it. The switch is supplied by fuse 6 which is 20amps. Check it first but if the CHMSL lamps come on when you hit the pedal, the fuse and switch are good. IF you reset the code and it returns, check the signal at pin B12 on the 32pin connector of the EBCM.

The voltage at this pin should be over 10volts when the pedal is depressed. If voltage is there and the contact looks good, but the code returns then the EBCM has a problem.

Code 76 is the left front solenoid circuit is open or high all the time. There is no 2 pin connector for this circuit. Sounds to me like you EBCM is bad. Its above the drivers dead pedal. A silver box with 2 connectors. Try unplugging look at the pins and plug it back in. Reset the codes and try again.

My EBCM gave me the same fits. After ruling out the other things were good, I called the dealer for the price of new EBCM. It was $700.00. Went to the local redneck junk yard and pulled a EBCM out of a car of the same make with ABS and the guy there asked what it was. I told him and he said ok $50.00 I said tell you what, if it doesn't work I won't bring it back and I'll give you $25.00 He says ok and that was last September. Been good ever since.

I would check both circuits carefully, we can tell you how to do it. If both circuits or just one of the circuits is good but you still have the code you'll have to replace the EBCM.

Sorry long winded Good luck to you.
