Who here still has a 100% stock LT1 F-body?
Who here still has a 100% stock LT1 F-body?
I'm curious, am I the only one here who hasn't done a single mod to my car? The only things ever replaced on the '95 Z28 were things like spark plugs, window motors, and other assorted things that broke and needed replacement, but all were GM parts from the dealership. The only thing missing on my car is the rubber insert at the bottom of the drink holder (came off on a cup my mom threw away in '97, didn't realize that til later).
So.
Here's a poll.
Choose "unmodified/stock" ONLY IF you haven't changed a single thing on your Firebird or Camaro since it came off the showroom floor. This INCLUDES AIR FILTERS, you MUST have the stock-style air filter, no K&N cone filters and NO changes to exhaust or headers.
ALSO, if you have pictures of your car, when it was completely stock, or if it still is, please post them. I'm interested in seeing a few things (such as: if it is true that ALL '96 Z28 SS Camaros had dual side exiting exhaust).

Well, my car is stock because my mom and sister basically tell me I can't modify it. I'm 19 and my sister and I share it (she's older, but I drive it more). If we had another Camaro, and it was solely mine, I would probably put a few mods on it that are completely removable (such as STS turbocharger and a polished version of the stock exhaust with polished rectangular tips) and keep the parts I took off in the garage or something.
However, there is a certain amount of mystique to keeping your Camaro stock. I don't know how long you guys plan on keeping your Camaros and Firebirds, but for us, it's probably for life. And when you go to a car show, aren't you more impressed with the guy who has a '67 Camaro (with matching numbers, a near flawless body, and no mods) than you are with the guy who has a stripped '67 with aluminum pedals, aftermarket wheels, and a brand new crate engine? I know I am. Maybe I am just more of a Ferrari type of guy at heart than a Camaro guy, because I believe there is a lot to like about keeping the cars original.
There was this red Z28 ('93-'95 based on the paint package) parked next to me today at school, and I was impressed from afar, but when I got close, I noticed it had a wrecked front-left bumper, aftermarket ground effects, weather stripping in terrible condition, aftermarket exhaust, and various other body problems. I may have my fair share of door dings, but my car looked so much better than this other one, it was really sad. As our early 4th gens get older and older, there are more and more that are really damaged on the street, it's a real shame. And since so many people have mods, it's hard to point out what year they are, especially when they change the wheels.
As I said, my car is stock. My mom's 2002 SS is stock in a way; it just has additional options installed by SLP before the car was delivered to the dealership. But if I had another Camaro, probably a '96 medium quasar blue Z28 with the stock optional chrome salad shooters if I had the money and luck to find one, I'd probably keep it stock, but have a few removeable mods for it. If it was in good condition body-wise, but had mods, I'd probably remove them and return it to stock condition. I'm just not into this K&N cone air filter and Borla dual-2-tip exhaust stuff.

i'll be willing to bet that if you had your own car, you'd be saying something totally different. it's not just luck that almost everyone on here has mod's, its a bug, one you havent seemed to have caught yet.
i for one have a respect for those who take their cars and personalize them, imagine how boring the car scene would be if everyone thought like you, you ferrari camaro driver.
sorry to come off as arrogant, but i think it will be a long while before your z is worth much more then it is now, modified or not. we really are not talking about a 67, we are talking about a mid model fourth gen. mod it!

I have nothing against personalizing cars (except when they look like **** like most '93 to '97 body mods do). If I had nothing better to do with my money, and had that '96 Camaro dream car I want, I'd probably put an SS style spoiler on it, that's a tasteful mod. Those Supra-style spoilers though need to be ripped off immediately.
The '98+ Camaros can look a lot better with mods, especially with the SLP gloss black SS grill, but the '93-'97 are beautiful as is to me (except for that rear spoiler if you gotta be real picky).
Re: Who here still has a 100% stock LT1 F-body?
I got the same speal from my parents 2 years ago when I bought my car. "Son" they said, "you have a beautifull car and you should keep it that way" "I wish I still had my GTO". My answer is yes, if you keep your car stock for the next 30 years it may be worth some money but who the hell can do that? Its a camaro, its a muscle car, its a type of car thats breed to be modified and to go fast. So have fun with it while you have it.
Think about 1980's Camaros. When it gets older most people are gonna think it looks like an old rednecks sports car long before it becomes a classic (I think they look beautifull tho
)

I bought mine used with 8k miles in 97. It has been babied it's entire life, and has plenty of mods. Now that it is exactly like I've always wanted I'm ready to start a new project now
