most machine shops balance also. no reason to mix around parts if you get your block done at a certain place it is better off to have the assembly balanced there to.

95fbformula, who balanced your Mahle Power pac? I like that setup, with a stock crank.

Why does it have to be a Hines?

We use Pro-Bal...

It would help to know where you live. I had mine done at Burtonsville Performance and Machine which is located in Burtonsville, MD. They are well known and have a good reputation along the eastern seaboard. The added bonus is one of their builders is very experienced with LTx/LSx engines so he knows the quirks/do's/don'ts...

I live in Central Jersey, doesnt have to be a hines, but needs to be done right. I have everything here to build a 383 or 355 LE2 motor, i just need to get someone reliable to balance it. I have seen to many threads were someone bought a balanced assembly, only to find out its not, after they put there motor in.

I also live in central new jersey and just had my short block done by Rogers Machine shop, located in garwood nj. They did all my machine work, and assembled the rotating assembly as well. I'm pretty sure they do not balance in house, but either way from what i hear they have a solid reputation. Been there for a LONG time. Hopefully i'll be abe to get mine up and running this week so i can tell you whether or not they did a good job.

p.s. - Dont' bring it to merkel's performance engines... too many bad stories out of that place.
