Hey,
I don't know about the white smoke. Mine has a blue smoke that goes away once the car warms up. I have a rich smell if you put your nose near the tailpipes, but there is no smell inside the car, but I had my pcm tuned a little on the rich side. You may have the rich smell because the cats are removed. Does the car run hot or acts as if it wants to run hot?, there may be a partially blown head gasket. I just replaced both of mine.
Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.
Good luck

when ihad white smoke after my head/cam install, it was because the injectors were clogged from sitting around for so long. An observer who was there suggested that we clean them, as he had done a cam install and saw white smoke, and cleaned the injectors to fix it. We cleaned the injectors and the smoke went away. However, the car was running very lean, not rich.

A water leak or antifreze into the combustion chamber will make thick white smoke that will not go away. Bad head gasket or cracked heads can cause it. A light grey smoke could be something else. I would not buy it until it is fixed. Just my .02
