where's my rev limiter
i thought it might be the plugs and wires which were originial, i bought new plugs for it and held off on the plug wires (which were 132$ from advance) the new plugs didn't help it, i tried putting some supreme gas in it and it seemed to take out a little bit of the miss (is this normal), i just don't know where to go from here, thanks

i thought the rev limiter was at 6200 although in first gear you appear to hit rev limiter at wot earlier because the guage cant keep up with the engine

They can keep up with the engine, it's just that they're off about 200-300 rpm on our cars. So you're right, if your car is reading 6 grand, you're closer to 5700-5800.
oh im no expert i just read on another fbody website faq:
Why does my car seem to hit a rev limiter around 5800 RPM in first gear and closer to 6200 RPM in all other gears?
The factory tachometer in these cars is slower than the engine is, so when accelerating in first gear at wide open throttle, your tachometer cannot keep up with the engine RPMs, and is actually a couple hundred RPMs behind when you first hit the rev limiter. Because it takes longer for the engine to get that high in other gears, this shouldn't happen. Since this isn't really a problem, there's nothing you can do about it other than practice. With some practice, you will learn to listen to your engine and know when you're about to hit the limiter in first gear.

Every single LT1 I've driven and took to such RPMs was hitting the rev limiter just a little over 6K in first gear. Besides, that statement is self-contradictory since according to it, the tach should be able to catch up with the engine in 2nd/3rd gear so it should be really at 5900 when it hits the rev limiter, not 6200.
