Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
GMPartsDirect will give you a good price on the part and then rape you with a flat shipping rate per part. As a result their prices usually are marginally better than what you would pay directly from the dealer. I personally like Jason Cromer, good guy who is a member here:
Jason Cromer: 877-726-8295 or 850-243-8826 (direct parts dept ph #)
email: parts@samtaylor.com
Sam Taylor Buick/Cadillac Ft. Walton Beach, FL
Make sure you talk to him to get the best price.

Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
gmpartsdirect has some good prices, but where they get you is the shipping. It is a little overpriced. Jason Cromer has some of the best prices on the gm parts and only charges you actual shipping cost. Not sure of his phone number right off but I am sure someone will chime in with his number, or you can do a search for his name.
Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
quick rundown on how GMpartsDirect.com works.
first off. the price you see there is the dealer price. this is the ACTUAL PRICE YOUR LOCAL DEALER PAYS GM FOR IT.
this is also the price they show you.
GMpartsDirect IS a dealer. they are not special.
they just have a lower markup.
the handling charge is a DIRECT PERCENTAGE of the cost, plus shipping.
so with a $2 bolt, you dont save anything.
with a $150 bracket, or a master/slave cyl combo, you can save alot.
the smart thing to do is look it up online, then with the print out, go down to your local GM dealer and ask them. if you're lucky, you might get it for less then their usual price... plus you know what number not to ask below since you know what they paid.

GMPartsDirect is cool but you will be waiting forever to get the part. Use Tally's advice and Call Jason Cromer
The prices are awesome...I just got a radiator for $200 instead of the $575 something dollars my Stealership by my house wanted to rape me for....if I was to buy locally, I would be more in debt than I already am...

when i order somthing, its at my door when i get home the next day.
when you order somthing, it has to go from NC, all the way over to CA.
that means, shipping to the package hub, then to the airport, flying, then to your local hub, before its even on a truck to your door.
it isnt a end all, to get the best bang for your buck, you need to do whatever works for you... and if you have a local dealer hookup, GOFORIT.... all GMPD is, is a public dealer hookup.
Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
yeah, I know the long distance shipping situation and I wasnt trippin on that but some of the things I was ordering was on backorder most of the time.....maybe it was just my bad luck but I was still happy..I still order stuff from them time-to-time...but rather get parts from jason

Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
http://www.vandevere.com/, Call up Dal..
Dal is cheaper than Jason on some stuff and vise versa. I'd order from jason when i lived in ohio cuz i'd have to pay sales tax to dal. Now im in florida and call Dal so i dont have to pay sales tax.
Like Dals vented optis are 198 bucks or so. LIke 10 bucks cheaper than jasons.

Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
Another parts contact is
Dal Slabaugh: 877-448-5451
email: lockitup@bright.net
VanDevere Buick/Pontiac/Olds Akron, OH
His dealership does add a slight handling fee, but with Dal and Jason you do get phone support which gmpartsdirect does not offer in any way shape or form. Any of these is cheaper than paying list price at your local dealership. List price is often twice as much as the wholesale price.
[edit] guess I was typing this as ZDriver96 was posting.

Re: Wheres cheapest place to get GM parts?
Your best bet is to become really good friends with your local GM dealer parts manager. I was lucky that a friend worked at a dealership and I got parts $5 over the dealer cost. It sucks that he quit and now I'm in the same boat as everyone else.
