where to start?
where to start?
i have a 94 z28 and i wanna build it up but i dont know where to start i wanna put a big cam in there headers exhaust i want it to be a beast i wanna do it good but not blow all my money in the end i wanna turbo it or something but i dont know how big to go either? anyone let me know
start slow and with bolt ons to begin with after you have all the bolt ons you can basically get then do internal work. you could also get headers and exhaust then intake and get an LE1/LE2 type set-up which is heads and a custom cam. will get you around 400rwhp with supporting mods. building a big set-up takes a lot of time or a lot of $$$$$ I am currently building a 355 and already have an estimated 7-8K that i will have to put into it before i am done with everything. and probably another 4K for trans and rear after that. A turbo set-up will run you a lot more especially if its custom. Try a Heads and cam set-up with supporting mods which can be done for about 3K and then go from there.
I would start searching through some of the old threads on this board. There are alot of options out there... you may want to evaluate your goals first and figure out which direction you want to go with your car, otherwise, you will start wasting money real fast.
1) Start with headers and exhaust. No matter what, you shouldn't have to change them again. Make sure you use long-tubes.
2) Get better tires. Go with some 10.5 rims and some 295s out back. Some good deals on knock-off Corvette wheels around these days.
3) Go with a cam&injectors, but only if you think about a stronger rearend. The stock rear is fragile and the teeth will shear off easily with power and tires.
4) The big daddy: Heads. Edelbrock has a nice cam/heads combo that bolts on. Then there's the LT4 combo, but that requires a new intake and a few other mods.
5) Ground up rebuild on bottom end. Bored, stroked, forged internals massive cam and 11-12:1 compression. You could go blower or turbo at this point and do 9:1 compression.
6) There's no end to the sickness. The LT1 has limitless potential.
