i have a 97 z28. i want to run a low 14 sec quarter.(13 sec at sea level). i want to be able to beat vettes. where should i start. it is bone stock now. automatic. i know i need to do intake and exhuast but i want to know specifically what kinds work best and that. i want to do the easy stuff like bolt ons first and go from there.

 

Anything special we should know about the car? Like does it have to pass emissions?

 

it needs to pass emissions. but tell me what the difference is cuz if it will be big then i might try to get around emissions and pass before i start doing things.

 

Torque converter and spray it if you want to be fast for cheap, but you should be close to those times stock, depending on gearing and tires.

 

and what vette are you wanting to beat because if that is all you are shooting for you sure won't beat a newer vette.

 

i dont want to do nos. and yes i what a shot at the new vettes.

You should already be able to run low 14s and HIGH HIGH 13s.

 

1)tires (BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD, Nitto DR's)
2)sfc's (bmr), lca's & phb (make your own or ebay)

2)cai (K&N, moroso)

3)exhaust (like slp, corsa, borla)

4)headers (jet hot if there emissions legal if not I know slp's are cuss i got em)

5)torque converter (vig.)

6)3.73's (Motive)

7)tune (pcmforless.com, madz28.com)

that's a good starter list you'll have to specify which vett you want to beat because those new ZO6's are fast

 

If he wants to run with a Z06, he's going to need heads and cam as well as all the bolt ons.

i guessing you live in colorado by you user name. before i added all the boltons i ran 14.7 and was beating a lot of newer vetts or tying with them (except the Z06). by the way where at in colorado?

 

i live in fort collins colorado. the reason i stay away from searching is there is a lot of "crap" out there. talking to people like u can help me weave that stuff out. i dont need to hang with z06s. yeah that would be great but i dont need to go to that extreme. i what i be able to pull up next to a new ss camaro or c5 vette and have that right to rev my engine if you no what i mean. i want to help give z28s a good name. if you guys have any other great suggestions let me know thanks.

 

i know the brand names and stuff but what exhuast system actually give the best numbers and same with the other mods. i guess what i am trying to say is why pick one over another.
