where to shift stock LT1 zwith 100k,bone stock

ok so it was jan 1st,saturday, when i bought my 94 Z28a4 LT1, it has about 100k on it, its black with t tops its beautiful, it also has a flowmaster 40series which i dont like becouse of the single outlet but thats another thread. So n e way this car flys! i mean on dry pavement at lke 45 mph if I get down hard on it i swear im breaking traction. It seems to catapukt foward at anyspeed, i love LT1 Fbodies, so ne way enough of that i need to know where to shift my car, i know mine is an automatic but i dont know if its safe to run it up to 6 grand? i always let off before it hits like 5500rpm, should i just leave it right down through th gears? where are you guys running your stock LT1s? sorry about the long story but im excited

Redline (5700 rpm) just happens to be be the optimal shift point, stock.

I had 130k on my auto and i beat the crap out of it. I would leave it in 2nd when i raced, redline the hell out of it. Around 90 mph in second, i dont see how it took it. My car was stock aswell. If you don't do anything like i did, it will be fine.

thanks for the advice guys though i probably wont need it for a few months a i dont want to drive it in buffalo winters so right now its sitting in my driveway.

Man i couldnt imagine how fast youd accelerate redlineing the **** out of it, these cars seem to have incredable pull everywhere,it seems the faster the motor spins the harder it pulls you, there is no drop off point or "out of my powerband" so to speak, it just moves HARD all over the place. either way i ususally baby it (usually being the 2 times i drove it the day i bought it) but its jsut nuce to know its there.

You'll want more sooner or later.. Wait till a Cobra or LS1 races you...

Right now I'm contemplating taking the big plunge with my car, heads, cam, 12 bolt, etc. I don't think I'll be happy until it runs 10s...

ya i drove an LS1 6spd trans am back in 2000, i remember it was sick fast but its hard to compare something 5 years later. man i couldnt imagine driving a z in the winter. I have had v6 4th gens in the snow, v8/6 thirdgens but nothing with an lt1. I just couldnt do it, to me the car is worth more than the 7600 i paid. if you think about after tax and intrest its almost 30k brand new
