where is my rotor supposed to be at TDC

can some one tell me where the rotor is supposed to be pointing at when the engine is at TDC? my opti has a master spline and the shaft on the cam gear doesnt? my car runs but it back fires through the intake during WOT. could this be a bad opti? please let me know what you guys think. thanks

I am currently putting opti back together after cam swapped. I think it should be pointing at 1pm position or toward number one cylinder.

a bad opti can make your car backfire at WOT but i dont think you would be able to start your car if the opti wasnt aligned properly.

i am not sure . i already had the timming cover on. the #1 piston is at TDC and the intake valve has just closed. the rotor should be at the #1 pin on the cap, i think at the 7:00 position.

Which end pointing at 6:30? My rotor wide end is pointing at 6:30 and smaller end at 1. Engine seems to run okay. Little rough idle but no miss. I am waiting for new chip to smooth out the idle.
