Where to go from here...?? h/c, spray in the future
Alright, I've had my LE2 heads and cam sitting around in my garage for too long now and I really want to get started with them. The main thing holding me back right now is that I'm unsure about just installing them on my current stock LT1 block. I've got almost 97K on the motor and I have plans of spraying after the heads/cam. Not much, just whenever I might need the extra boost which won't be much at all, just say once or twice a month. All I know right now is what I've seen in posts similar to this with everyone replying that it is a toss up as to how long it will last. I want this to be a once and done thing so I don't have to rip into the block ever again hopefully. My question is basically this: how should I go about doing this?
As of now I see my options as these:
1. Install it and hope... would rather not
2. Keep block and replace internals
3. Brand new block with forged internals (seems very costly just from what I've seen so far)
Option 2 sounds the best to me right now as a happy medium between reliable and cost effective. But I don't really know what I'm talking about when it comes to building a reliable engine, so thats where I'm coming to you guys. Would it be worth it for me replace everything inside the block or just buy a new block with everything I need already in it?
Thanks a lot

Fast, reliable, or cheap. Pick two. lol
You probably won't need a new block. You can get yours refreshened for relatively cheap. You should at least consider forged pistons and rods and reuse the stock crank. All new gaskets, bearings and any other worn items that you can afford like lifters and oil pump driveshaft or overbore.
I say this since you will probably have to do it eventually. You can always just install the heads and spray the nitrous until the motor goes. If it doesn't go soon, then put the cam in. If it never goes, then you're golden. If it goes, rebuild it then. The difference is, if you rebuild it now, it's done on your terms, on your budget and when you want to. Good luck.

Fast, reliable, cheap... I've heard that before haha. Well, since I really don't have much extra cash right now, I think I will put the heads and cam within the next couple weeks, then s(pray) sometime in the next few months. In the mean time, I'll be saving for a new block, all forged.
Thanks a lot
