Where to go to get 400 HP????????

I have the engine pulled in my 95Z and am going to do either a engine rebuild with the RIGHT parts. Or just buy an engine all ready to drop in. I am hoping to achieve around 400HP without nitrous/blower etc... Would you guys just buy a motor already assembled from a speed shop or just have mine redone and if so if you could do a diagram motor for what I am wanting to do what cam/heads/pistons etc.. would you go with?

If all your looking for is 400hp then I would just get a nice set of heads and a nice cam. Many people have achieved 400rwhp with that combination on the stock bottom end.

I just want to make sure I do it RIGHT as there are a couple of 2003 Cobras running around town that have hended me my *** a couple times. Payback is going to be sweet......... I don't want to do this twice thats why I am asking so that while I have this thing out I can do it right the first time with no second guessing

if those 03 Cobra's are stock then you'll be just fine with aprox 400RWHP.....but if those 03 Cobras are modded, then you're going to have to up the ante, and provided those 03 cobra owners can drive....

Even modded '03 Cobras shouldn't be problem w/ 400 rwhp. The fastest one around here was running 11.60's, and I went 12.20's with a hotcam and stock heads. Stall (forgot to look if you had a A4 or not), slicks, and 400rwhp, would be plenty for some modded Cobras.

400 horsepower is attainable with a Lloyd Elliot, Joe Overton, or Advance induction head and cam package.. apologies to those I have left out.. whether it is "right" to do it on a stock bottom end is a matter of personal choice, drivng style and mileage.. if you are doing a teardown rebuild the bottom end with quality parts and add above said packages and good to go..

As to beating blown cobras? Pick your battles.. you can spend 3k and have those things dynoing 500..

edit: apologies, forgot the engine was out of the car.. in that case I would buy a shortblock or parts from combination motorsports then add their top end or one of the above mentioned setups..

Call around some local custom shops . You may be suprised at how cheap you can have a 400hp motor built . There is an engine shop in town here , the guy was going to bore my LT1 over 30 , port the heads and match the intake , all for 2600 bucks . This is using High quality parts . That was with me pulling the engine and putting it back in . Im sure I would have been making some decent numbers with a mild cam " over 400hp " Best of luck to ya .
