Autozone and Pep Boys have them. You can also order from J. C. Whitney.

You might try and use a long screwdriver. Put the flat end on the valve cover and put your ear up against the end of the handle. You'd be surprised how well it works in narrowing down a noise!

I got mine from Jeg's or Summit (I forget now). It was only like $6.00 and it works great. It is an automotive stethascope, not one like a doctor would use.

Checkers has them for about 15 dollars here in Hawaii. Mainland prices should be lower. Make sure they arent damaged.... Mine were.

The scopes are fine for listening through the valve covers, etc., but why don't you adjust the rockers with the engine off? JMHO

I've seen them at Sears. You could also use a long screwdriver and stick your ear to the end of it which works just as good. Be careful not to scratch your valve covers though if they are nice.
