Where to get my 160 thermostat?

Ok, PCM went off to fastchip today, and I need to replace my 180* stat with a 160*. Question is, what make the hypertech stat so nice? Is it worth my time to pay more and wait to get it or just get any 160* stat?

Re: Where to get my 160 thermostat?

the ls1 stat is engine specific.

it has to be replaced as a whole unit...stat and neck all as one.

hence the price.

you cannot just slap a standard sbc stat in there.

I'm confused. Are you posting in the LT1 forum about an LS1?

Cool Re: Where to get my 160 thermostat?

Well I recently bought a 160* thermostat and it was only about ten dollars more than the 180* at discount auto zone. Total coming to less than $20.00
And it works great.

You can't use a standard ol' SBC t-stat in the LT1. You'll have to buck up the $18 (summit)-$24 (autozone) for the LT1 piece, both of which are hypertech. I've installed more than one and they seem to be fine pieces.
