Bret@bauer-racing.com

He will spec a custom cam/valvetrain that will be right for your setup. If you want the most power out of it without throwing money away, its the only way to go.

If you already know what specs you want, just call Comp Cams, Crane, etc. and have it made for you.

On the other hand, if you know what performance results you want, but not how to get there, you might take TQdrivenws6's suggestion.

It's kind of like consulting a doctor and asking him to perscribe such and such a drug at a certain dosage. More than likely he/she won't write the perscription without diagnosing your ailment by asking you questions about how you feel and how you want to feel. The cam "doctor" is probably better able to decide on the "medicine" (grind) than you are. Otherwise you are pretty much restricted to "over the counter" cams.

Like dealing with a doctor, what you perscribed might not be what the doctor decides, and he won't want to treat you. They are funny that way. I know firsthand.

Stay well.

Alan uses Cam Motion and from what I've seen does some pretty nice cam setups.

Re: Where to get a Custom Cam??

BTW I'm the Bret that TQDriven was talking about.

I feel I can say that Alan does some good cams since I think he goes about it the right way. I don't get into what he does right, but I do think he is on the right track.
