Exclamation Where does this part go? (Rubber Plug)

I'm assembling my engine today, and I found this on the floor. I'm pretty sure it must have fallen out of something I handled today, because I swept the floor before beginning. It's a black rubber cap. Anybody recognize this part?

I swear I've never seen it before. If you know LT1's inside out and are pretty sure this didn't come from the engine or accessories, that would be reassuring, too. Thanks.

looks like a cap on a metal chair or something. Can't think of anything on our cars with that either.

if thats all you have left over, after and engine rebuild, you're doing really good.

Yeah, it does look like a cap they push into the end of the metal tubing for the legs of a fold-up type chair. Was anything like that carried through the garage for a cookout or something?

Well, I've still got a big pile of parts left, I'm sure there will be more chances to pick up a part and get that sudden sinking feeling.....

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I guess it's not from the motor. It was oily, which made me think twice before jumping to that conclusion.

?? might be a cap to plug the AIR system (on the air intake) if that is no longer on your car.

or off either end of a TB bypass??? if that has been done??

I didn't cap my TB, but the AIR system cap is something you should have... (assuming you're AIR pump is removed)
