... or try double-starting it to give you that extra boost off the line!

hmm, not sure what you think your problem is...
but that starter should just buff out. Really doesn't look like too serious of a problem t me *shrug*

Mine didn't look that bad, but it has happened to myself and other people on the board as well. Mine went dead something like 2 years ago, I just bought an LT4, no problems since. As for where the chunk went, I have no idea, I never found it in the trans case that I could see.

I bought a powermaster starter slightly used (cheap) that a guy was using on a very high compression engine. It has 200ft/lbs of torque. As you can image my car now starts up very fast.

Especially since my battery is also larger than stock, 1000 CCA.

if your worried about your core charge, go to the salvage yard and pull an old used one, pr check and see if anyone that wrecked their car wants to get rid of the starter for $10

I've seen some busted starters but wow...looks to me like something got caught between the teeth and the flywheel. Check for any starter parts embedded in the tires

Not worried about the core charge. The place I got the new one from doesn't except a core for this starter (I wonder why ) so now I have another FUBAR part to add to my collection.
