Yes you can use them for tuning. You just have to get some software for your laptop. Usually Datamaster for logging data and TunerC.A.T.S. or LT1Edit for changing parameters. AND I just happen to have a serial cable for a 95 LT1 for sale. PM me if you are interested.

The one I bought I bought from WOTelectronics. I think they are at www.wotelectronics.com AKM cables makes the most popular one but it cost more.

Please don't abuse TTT.

Pre-written blurb:

LT1_edit http://carputing.com/

Tunercat http://tunercat.com/

are two popular programs to do your own programming. Tunercat is cheaper and not VIN locked. They essentially do the same thing.

http://akmcables.com/
http://wotelectronics.com/
www.aldlcable.com
www.pcmforless.com
www.moates.net

are some places to get cables.

If you are going to do your own tuning, you are going to want some data logging software, so you can see results to help you.

http://www.ttspowersystems.com/diagnostic.htm -free download with a number of free uses before you have to buy.

http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/ecu_software.htm totally free.

(this is all OBD-I stuff)

And to add a little something extra here. The AKM and WOT cables are SERIAL cables meaning you need a serial port on the computer you are gonna program and datalog with. The Moates cable is a USB cable which works better for newer laptops that do not have the serial port... I hear they are really nice too. I use an AKM cables which is the exact same cable youll receive from WOT and never had any trouble with it.

Good point that you need to pay attention and buy the right cable for the computer you will be connecting to.

Andrew (AKM) makes/sells USB compatible cables... I've got one and it works flawlessly.

95 cars have OBD1 pcm's, but have an OBD2 style port, so a standard OBD1 cable cant be used on 95's.
