When You Torqued Down Your Heads

Did it feel like you were applying that much torque at all?

I just did 25, 45, 65 ft.lbs. and I felt like I could do it with my pinky... almost.

Yes, but keep in mind that most torque wrenches have a long handle which gives you a lot of leverage. The bolts are tighter than what you think.

Maybe it was because I was torquing with the motor in the car, but it felt like I was applying a lot of pressure.

<no sissy jokes fellas!!!>

I'll probably check them again after I torque down the rockers studs... How many ft. lbs. on those?

It seriously felt like nothing!

Sure it was foot pounds (ft. lbs) that you had the torque wrench set at, and not inch pounds (in. lbs.)?

50 on the rocker studs. Hopefully, your torque wrench is in good calibration.

I would say its probably just a big torque wrench. The wrench i use is big enough that i can do 100ft lbs. no problem and it hardly feels like anything at all.

If it was that easy I'd be worried about overstrained bolts. Are these new bolts or are you reusing some? If you are reusing the stock bolts this could very well be a problem!

I don't care how long your torque wrench is or how big your pinky is... it shouldn't be THAT easy.

Wanna know a secret.. I torqued the top middle bolt down on the driver's side so hard that I stripped the head of the ARP bolt and was unable to back it off. I didn't here or feel the stupid tq wrench. But its been almost 5,000 miles and nah a problem. Odd, if you ask me. The rest of the bolts were tightened correctly. The reason that I kept tightening was for the above reason, just didn't feel like it could have possibly been enough.
