When is it time to change lifters?

Well ive been reading the comp r thread for about 3 days now (JK) I am going with a LE2/3 head and cam package and Lloyd recomended dong a comp oe replacment lifter. I listen to experts. But I wanted to know if it was totaly neccissary if my OE lifters where in good shape, once I get it appart what is the best way to test the lifter for near "new" operation. I also have heard good things about Morel lifters, do I need to do any other work if i use lifters with the stabilization conneting bar?

I think that if you push in on them with a pushrod and the cup dosent come back up its collapesd.

Ya can't test them out of the engine. If they were fine before they will be OK with a good inspection for cracks around the bottom half of the lifter and check the roller for slack and smoothness.

Yes, And Lloyd was spacific on getting the OE replacments not comp R, I have @20000 on the 383 and the lifters were good to go during the build, Im looking at the price VS payoff and if I am going to replace them im going to go with Morel, if i need to replace them. I am just on the fence still.
