When takin out the water pump shaft from the block...

Do you need to plug the hole??? I heard that was optional. Thanks.

I heard it was optional too. If you notice there is two holes about the same size on both sides of where the drive went so I cant see it harming anything unless it will be getting too much oil into the timing chain area which I wouldnt think so. I took mine out and dont plan on capping it.

No I havent got my motor back into my car yet But I dont plan on plugging the hole and I know of a couple guys that didnt plug theirs and havent had any problems.
