When my car gets past 220* it acts up. Please Help!!

Alright my car is finally on the road after 2 month of sitting in the driveway. When I drive it for like 10 minutes it works great, but then when the temp gets above 220 it starts acting up. The opti, plugs, wires, coil were all replaced about 4 months ago. When the car gets past 220, the idle is really rough almost to the point its gunna stall, and it hesitates badly under acceleration, and can get past 30 mph, then suddenly it kicks in and goes. I have no clue what this could be. My fan is still programmed at 240 i think, but I have a 160* thermostat, i guess thats not working. So what else should i check? fuel Filter? clogged cat?

What? ANY help would be great

Thanks alot!!!

first off...why is your car reaching 220 after 10 minutes of driving??

sounds like you need to address taht first.

the hesitation is probably detonation, and the knock sensor is pulling timing...alot of it!

did you use an LT1 specific stat?
did you bleed the coolant system?
is your waterpump functioning properly?
have you flushed your radiator?

Maybe your ICM is overheating.

A 160 degree t-stat isn't going to do much good unless you have the fans programmed to come on at a lower temp.

Go to Shoebox's site :
Click on coolant drain and refill, look at his pictures for the bleeder screws, and kinda follow those steps.

with the car running at normal operating temp open one of the two bleeder screws next to the intake elbow. Wait until you get a steady stream of coolant out of the hole then close it. Do the same with the other located just under the intake elbow.

probably 5-10 min. all you really need is for the tstat to open so as soon as you feel the upper rad hose get warm your there.

Sounds to me like it is related to Open Loop VS. Closed Loop.

I would look into the O2s first...
