Ok lets see car runs like a dream when its cold... kind of a rough idle but i dont care really about that...

but once it warms up its still got the rough idle, and its got a stumble in low rpms, but WOT its a dream car... although in first gear it gets a terrible launch so i cant take it to the track like that
otherwise my 60' will be like 3 seconds lol...

it backfires in the intake during low rpms and under a load and i feel like the engine is really shakin back and forth...
whenever it backfires i can feel the gas pedal bounce a little

ive owned the car the last 2 months and most of that time its had this problem

whenever i power break it, the engine just constantly backfires, and i cant get it to spin the tires.

i just changed the egr gasket. what else could this be?

 

mine has the same problem. I replaced just the cap and rotor and everything was cool for a bit, then just recently it started crapping out again. So now i need to replace the whole distributor/opti. So i'm giving J. Crommer a call right after i get off this message board.

I'm having the same problems you are, and i know its the opti. stupid opti!

but people say that when the opti is to blame it will die quick, so since this problem has been happening for 2 months... are u sure this is still the same thing?

 

Damn the curse of the OPTI its everywhere.

It sounds like the symptoms of a dying opti.. I would check the wires, o2 sensors etc.. first, but it is more than likely the opti. Good luck.

 

A Weird thing i noticed today, is i was driving home, probably got 3/4 a mile w/ the A/C on and it started w/ these simptoms... and i was like wow thats quick... so i turned off the A/C and the symptoms went away for a little bit longer, probably 2-3 miles more then i could feel it again, but today i had a littlbe it of a load, i had 300lbs in my trunk so maybe that was causing an extra load on my car.
