over the past couple months ive been noticing that when i drive my car with the rpms around 1000 rpms- 1500rpms it kind of stutters. it only seems to do it when im in overdrive driving around 45 or 50mph. when its at 1500rpm and i accelerate, it wont hesitate but it does a little when i let off or hold it steady at 1500 or less. i had new plugs put in almost 3 years ago and new opti and wires 2 years ago. please tell me that if i just got new plugs AND wires that my car would be fine lol. i dont wanna buy another opti. this slight stuttering doesnt seem to affect the performance once i get in it a little, just around 1500 rpms or so. what do you all think? oh yeah, how much do you think it'd cost to have plugs/wires installed? i'll buy the plugs and wires myself rather than the shop. thanks in advance

 

I paid to have it done once while I was away at collage it was like 220$ parts and labor..... I'd never do that again.

 

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND IM STILL TRYING TO CHASE IT OUT. I HAVE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, COIL, AND TPS. HOWEVER I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT YOU DESCRIBED ABOVE. I THINK ALL ARROWS ARE POINTING TO OPTI. ALSO WILL HOOKING UP THE SCAN TOOL SHOW ANYTHING ON THIS?

If you have a scan tool I woudl use it just to see if somethings off. I has a stuttering problem and it turned out that a plug wire came out of the opti.

 

You're probably due for plugs, anyway. Another possibility might be an EGR problem.

 

could also be time to replace the cap and rotor.

are you noticing a real drop in power? cuz if you're in overdrive and not going very fast, unless you downshift you're not gonna take off. could be nothing. i dont have the brainpower to explain any more right now, but it'll bog on you in overdrive unless you downshift.

 

Yea i have a very similar problem. I guess i just assume it is the cam because i have a pretty big cam (cc306). It really doesnt like cruising at 40 mph in 5th. This puts the car around 1.5 rpm. But when im on the highway doin about 65 at 1.5 rpm, it does not do this, so im kinda confused.
