whats up with my SLP dual-cat shorties?
whats up with my SLP dual-cat shorties?
ok, i am currently going through the joy of installing these headers on my car. The driver side header is in, but the AIR fitting seems to be too far back about 1" to connect to the AIR hose. Not a big deal, i guess i can just get another hose.
But on the passenger side, there is a bracket coming out of the top of the header(not the AIR fitting, something for emmssions?) On the manifold i took out the hole is directly across from the o2 sensor. The hole in the block is right below the last manifold bolt. So the bracket on the header to screw into the block is in the wrong place, it should be across from the o2 sensor right?
I thought they might have sent me the wrong headers, since this bracket is in the wrong place and the AIR fitting on the driver side is a bit short. But I looked at the picture of the headers on SLP's site and the bracket seems to be in the same place as mine.
I need that thing to hook up, as i am in CA and i need all emmissions working. Does anyone know specifically what the hole is for, and why the bracket on the passenger side header doesn't match up? Is it possible they sent me the wrong headers?
Thanks in advance

The air injection tubes come out of the first primary tubes on each header. The fitting that comes out of the top is for the egr tube(this tube has a square type fitting on it). The factory egr flex tube that comes out of the back of the intake will have to be bent a little to reach the new location on the headers. Hope this helps.
ok i get it. I didn't know what the other fitting is for. i thought that it had to be screwed into the block and not into a tube(guess i didn't look hard enough.) I'll try bending the egr tube.
Thanks a lot for your help and quick response!
