3.73s are a pretty good gear for 150-160 mph max speeds. With an M6, 5th is about 5300 @ 160. With 3.23s it's about 4600.

IMO, a standard engined Z will be faster with the 3.73s since it will be closer to hp peak.

Maximum speed occurs when power required (aero drag and rolling friction) = horsepower available. With more hp than stock you can go faster IF you are geared correctly.

Letting off at 140 was a good move. I hope you were alone on the road at the time.

The lowest non convertible top speed I've ever seen reported for an LT1 car was 153mph...most tend to be in the 155 to 157 range for the Z28s...TA/Formulas I've seen as high as 163 but most of those tend to be around 160ish. There's generally a 2 or 3mph difference...not much...

But those speeds are for 3.23 cars, not 3.73 cars. It just seems like i'd hit 6k long before 150. I could be wrong though.

This doesn't take into account the amount of HP needed to push the air but is helpful for determining RPM at speed and speed at RPM etc.

FYI- My tire diameter is 12.82--> 245/50/16 (Just in case someone else has that size and is lazy )
