Whats the size of the stock y pipe on a 97 z28?

I'm looking at getting an electric cutout with my tax returns but i need to know what size to order the cut-out in. Its the stock y-pipe with a gutted driver side cat, and the passenger one was just cut off, it was done by the previous owner Other then that were should i mount it on the pipe? and which electric cut out do you all prefer, QTP or DMH? oh and will most exhaust shops install these for you and how much should i look at for having it installed?
thanks alot for the help

On the 1997 Z28, the factory pipe diameter behind the y-pipe (single pipe to the muffler) is 3 & 3/4". Most muffler shops don't have the 3 & 3/4" pipe, so you may need to find a performance muffler shop if you have to add, or modify the existing 3 & 3/4" pipe.

Well, I know when I replaced my 96 z28's y-pipe that it is 3" in diameter. So order yourself a 3" cutout and you will be fine. As for preference of brand, I have no idea which is better.

Correction, I should have said 2 & 3/4" pipe on the 1997 Z/28! That is the correct size, not 3 & 3/4.
