Get a set of headers. They will open your exhaust for later mods.

This all depends on what transmission you have. For a manual, with $600, you should probably look into headers. If you don't install headers yourself, you'll probably be looking at more than $600, but you can *purchase* a set of jet-hot headers for that. They sell their own mockup of Hooker Long tubes, and they will purchase and coat other headers for you if you don't want long tubes. Install gets costly though, as it is a major PITA.

If you are an A4 guy, you might try a torque converter and/or gears before headers. Look at either 3.73 gears (my buddies all have Motive 3.73's and like them), I think you can get a complete 10-bolt package for about $400 brand new, or just the gears for around $200.. A vigilante 2800 (A4 guys, 3200 stall better for his setup?) stall converter is probably upwards of $650... But everyone who has it agrees it was well worth the money.

I am an a4 guy and I am trying to get as far as I can with the 2:73s and stock convertor(whatever size it is?). I have all the little free mods, suspension, intake, !cat and cutout. I'm doing 1.6rr and headers this winter. That would personally be what I'd do next, 1.6 roller rockers, you can get a pair for like 200 dollars as long as you can install it yourself. If you haven't done anything to your suspension and have a problem hooking look into getting some lower control arms. Headers is ALWAYS an awesome mod on f-bodies and will really wake your car up.

Yea i was thinking about the LT headers, but now a 2800 stall(maybe 3000) is a good posibility. How hard is a stall converter install. Thanks

Converter install isn't too bad. You'll just need a lot of ratchet extension and it's probably a REAL good idea to have a friend there to help if you don't have a tranny jack (otherwise it's gunna be a REAL pain lining the tranny back up). I think it took about an horu and a half for me to get my tranny out (i completely removed mine and had a rebuild done) and about 2 hours to get it back in with the new torque converter in. This was my first time ever taking a tranny out...so if you have any experience you're allready ahead of me. I could probalby do the whole job in under 3 hours easily the next time around.

Just to point this out, I went to the track yesterday and my buddy has an A4. He ran 14.07 @ 97.5mph with only a cutout and K&N intake. Nothing changed since then but his 3.73 gears and he was running solid 13.5's all day. 5 tenths for gears sure seems worth the money to me

Make that another vote for headers. Even if you just do shorties and a new y-pipe instead of long tubes it's well worth it. I'd do headers before gears or new converter. My .02.
