What's needed to make a 94+ cam work on a 93?
What's needed to make a 94+ cam work on a 93?
I have a '93 z28 and just bought a new cam for 94+LT. Do I need to cut the dowel pin for it to work in my car? I think I've heard someone mention this before.

Yeah, your distributor runs off the center gear drive instead of the offset long pin that you see, so that pin needs to be shorter to not interfere with the timing cover. I'm having the same problem in reverse - I'm trying to run a 95 Optispark on a 92 LT1 that currently has a cam with the short pin, I need the long one.
At least yours is easy - you can always make things shorter. Take the measurement of the pin off your old cam and cut the new one (carefully, straight, and smooth) to the same size.

The 94 LT1 had the same opti and drive setup as the 93 did, so there is no difference in the dowel length on the cam. The change happened in 95.

That sounds right to me. The cam card said for 94 and up LT1 V8 350ci, thats where my question came from. The dowel is on it so I just need to cut to match the stock cam.Thanks.
