Whats needed to install Jet-Hot Headers
Re: Whats needed to install Jet-Hot Headers
First off, don't forget to get O2 sims for the rear O2's.
Second, buy GOOD bolts and don't use paper gaskets. You might want to use some anti-seize too. I have FLP's. I used the paper gaskets they supplied. They blew out pretty quickly. I replaced them with Fel-Pro 1406 gaskets. The bolts they gave were junk. They rusted in place in no time. My Stage 8 locking bolts are so much better. JMO.

-Stage 8's
-Couple of jacks would be nice (one of them being a full size floor jack.. you going to need to lift the motor a bit, unless you get lucky)
-Stands
-Nice pair of thick gaskets
-Punching Bag

Might want to invest in some good working gloves too.
Headers are usually a real PITA. Some poeple it takes a couple days to work them in. I believe probably the easiest solution might actually be to drop the K-member as if you were going to do a motor swap. Everything is right out in the open and it usually doesnt take more than 3-4 hours to drop it.

Re: Whats needed to install Jet-Hot Headers
WHat collecter gaskets and plus wires should I run? Should I go over the valve covers? THose look like they are good, and better to use for not burning plug wires. My buddy who works on cars alot said he would install them for $300. Is that better than chewing up my hands? Thanks
Re: Whats needed to install Jet-Hot Headers
-new o2's (front)
-OTVC kit from www.thunderracing.com (comes with Taylor wires)
-o2 extensions (from thunder too)
-02 simms, or custom programming/OBD1 conversion form madz28.com (pretty reasonable prices, and my car runs sweet)
-if you dont get the programming, you will need an LT4 KM
-spark plugs, NGK TR55's work good
-may want to replace the motor mounts
-dont forget about a y-pipe
- copper or soft aluminum collecter gaskets
good luck
Chris

I know I just went through this and had to do it twice because they sent a defective header. The driver side collector was welded on at an upward angle which prevent the Y-pipe from mating with it.

If you dont have programming done to your PCM, you will need the LT4 KM. Your longtubes are louder than manifolds, and the knock sensor will pick that up and take away some timing, making the car run not so good. The LT4 KM reduces its sensitivity.
