Whats the limit of 22 lb. injectors?

I'm tossin in a cc306 w/ stock heads plus I have full bolt ons. Should i upgrade to 24#ers or will the 22's be ok for now? Also, I might toss a 125 shot on top of it in a few months.... Thanks!

I'd go with some 24s, especially with the 150 shot....

Will 22# work

In the Feb 2002 edition of Chevy High Perfomance mag. they give a formula for injector sizing but you must know how much HP you expect to have. The formula is Inj FR=engine hp x 0.5 divided by 8injectors x 0.8 The 0.5 is efficiency of the engine (they say to use 50%) and the 0.8 is the duty cycle of the injector. By this equation, if we assume you have or will have 400HP then 400 x .5 is 200 divide this by 6.4(8 x .8) and the answer is 31.25 so you go to the nearest size up which is 32#. If you run with too lean of injector you will burn valves and pistons. I have seen this formula since in a lot of other publications so I feel it is correct. Good luck. Go to CHP web site to check for yourself

Sorry the answer to your question of how much will 22# inj support is 22 x 8 x .8 / 0.5 and the answer is 281.6 HP you are seriously under fueled. Did you relace the fuel pump and add an adjustable regulator? These 2 things are a must. With the new cam and exhaust you have to be pushing 320 HP you need to get new injectors and get to a chassis dyno. By the way 17 x 11's with 7.75 back spacing will fit in the back allowing 315/35's according to CHP Jan 2002 edition. Think about that for bite at the track. Is your car Hugger orange? if so can you give me the color number I want to us it in the spring on my car.
Thanks

I also would recommend going with SVO 24 lb injectors. Personally I think the 22lb injectors that come in 93's are garbage.

In 93 the LT1 was batch fired injection. You may want to consider switching to sequential FI like the 94's and up use. Pay attention to the sizing. for you 24# is too small and check pump, filter and regulator. Also get a fuel pressure gage. This is a must if you are using the giggle gas. Check with tuners using batch fired Injectors with NOS. You may need a better ECM.

Good luck

Yep, 24 SVOs are a great idea. They were initially rated at 39.2 PSI (Ford pressure) so the will work as 25.xx lb/hr on our 43.5 PSI.

How easy would it be to swap to the SFI from the Batch Fire?

There is no reason to convert over to SFI. I would stick with batch-fire

Not sure about the limit of power that can/should be produced with 22's but I've dynoed 295rwhp on my 22's with the stock way rich fuel pressure.

You may want to look into an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. I picked up 10 rwhp and 17 rwtq with a setup similar to yours.

Ditto. The only negative thing about batch fire is a slightly rougher idle. It runs just the same at WOT...
