I want it to be my car thats faster but that is not gonna happen for a while. Why cant I live next door to Summit!!

First off all, it depends on what you are talking about when you say fastest.


1)There is top speed which actually measures the fastest.

2) There is 1/4 mile also - in which there is no real answer . That just depends on weight, driver, factory gear ratio, which can go from something like 2.73 - 3.4x



On one of those types of fast which is top speed, THERE IS A CLEAR , REAL answer. The TRANS AM is the fastes top speed. Because of AREO dynamiscs. I have seen this more than once.

The stock LT1 Trans AM 6 speed, beat the z28 and the formula EVERY TIME. IN all the test, the TRANS am ran 157 mph. The formula and the z28 ran , and one ran 154 and I can't rember the other one, but it was less than the TA. Tranmission also plays a part to I think one of the test ran an automatic Z28, and it ran quite a bit slower I think at 145 - vs- 150 plus for the 6 speed cars.


As far as 1/4, even with the same driver with perfect accuracy and the same transmission, and gear ratio driving all 3 cars, It would just depend on the weight. Usually the Trams am is the heaviest, but there are Trans Ams that weight less than the other two. It just depends on the options, etc. But in drag racing with equal equiptment and driver , it just depends on weight. But no one of these cars should have more power as far as the TA, Formula, and Z28, except for those factory duds or freaks , which can be found in any of the 3.

In drag racing they should all be the same if the weight and options are the same.
Of course the heavier one would be slowest in the 1/4 if their are weight differences. But besides weight they are all the same engine, and basic car. In testing the same group of cars during that top speed test, they also did 1/4 mile . The Trans am was fastest top speed, but slowest in the quarter , It also weighed the MOST . That's proabably the ONLY reason. The engines are the same. Given equal weight and options, in the 1/4 they should ALL run the same.


The only real winner is TOP speed, where because again of areo dynamics the TRANS AM from the factory is the fastest. (At least with the lt1, ..........and probably ls1's also.)
