whats difference le1 HL and le1 1.5?

just like the title states.

i figured i wanted to do the le2 heads. but not really a high reaving cam. so i figure get most power out the cam. buy if someone can explain more in detail which would be the ideal way to go

thanks in advance

The LE1.5 cam has the same intake/exhaust duration as the LE1 cam. However the LE1.5 cam has a bit more lift which will build a bigger torque curve and make it lope a bit more.

I rev mine to 6.3K RPM but it could rev even higher, it does not appear to fall off. I am still awaiting the dyno tune to see what the curves really look like.

Both cams want to rev to around 6.3K or so. Both are great cams, but the LE1.5 will beat the springs a bit harder which must be monitored.

Brett Bauer has made the statement to me that this cams power is very close to the LE2 but does not have to rev as high. I have this cam and LE2 heads, I did not want to rev to the 6.5K+ RPM range. No regrets.

Did you even read my post. I clearly stated that the LE1.5 cam HAS MORE LIFT than the LE1 cam. The Durations are the same. This clearly means it is NOT the same cam.

sorry, i think you misunderstud my question, i know that there is the regualar le1 cam. i was refering the the le1 HL cam. i was told the HL stood for "high lift" and from it sounds like that le1.5 and the le1 HL are the same both with bigger lift

sorry if there was any misconfusion

Whoops my bad.
I know the specs of both, they are practically identical. Only a smidge different on lift, and I mean a smidge. You are correct, that are nearly the same cam.

Hope that helps.

The difference is marketing. People get to feel special and write sub numbers to differentiate thier setups.

if you dont want to rev the motor up to 67-6800rpms than have llyod make the cam peak earlier. Like 6400, he ll make whatever you want. You just will be giving up some hp thats all.

Cant you accomplish this by just getting the LE1 type cam, ~6400 is where it wants to rev to by design.

OK, I am sure that Lloyd just makes the other #'s up to confuse and market, and make people feel special.

I think most people know better than that, lol.

biggest diferencence is that the LE1 cam is made to work with springs on the LE1 haeds, the LE1 HL cam has the same duration but more lift requiring the bee hives and the LE1.5 is a cam with the duration closer to the LE2 cam and still needing bee hive springs.

This really only matters when buying a used cam or a cam from the for sale section. If buying a new cam from me, we will go over your set up and get you the cam that will work best with your gear, weight, stall, shift RPM, springs used, etc.

My point was that it is all marketing. Really, why even advertise a LE1.52343452 or LE3.2 if you tailor the parts/cam/portwork to the application? I'd certainly hope you tailor the cam and valvetrain to the application.
