Question What's the best way to do a leakdown test ?

Here's the problem- When I go to leave in the morning, my car doesn't start. It turns over 2 or 3 times then locks. It'll do it 2 or 3 times, then it'll start. It' did the same thing when the head gasket went, but then it smoked like hell. It doesn't smoke now though. After I replaced the heads, it was fine for a few days till this. BUT I'm loosing coolant somehow/somewhere. about a quart a day. But there was no sign of coolant on the ground or in the engine compartment. I'm going to start troubleshooting tomorrow. I'm guessing I have an injector leak or maybe a hairline crack in the block allowing coolant into 1 of the cylinders. Even now it's not smoking though. ????

You will need a leakdown tester and air compressor. Basically, it is blowing a known pressure of air into the cylinder and watching how much air leaks out. If you Google "leakdown tester" you will find lots of info.

I found my coolant leak, or leaks anyway. 3 or 4 of the radiator/ heater hoses weren't completely sealed and Barely seeping, but running down the front of the block dried it before it could reach the ground. Oddly, the car has started up just fine the past 2 days. I'm going to see about a leakdown tester next week when the Snap-On guy comes in.
