What would you charge another person to fix their car?
Re: What would you charge another person to fix their car?
shops around here at the CHEAPEST get $75/hr, so depending on the person id go $40/hr (close friends and family) and $50/hr (new customers), i think its fair enough seeing as it all adds up especially saving $100 every 4 hours as a new customer and even more as a friend! I also agree on the whole 'no receipts' idea, paper would be baaaad in this situation, a simple starting up and demonstration of "it starts, it revs, you have good oil pressure, no coolant leaks (where you replaced gaskets and parts), no oil leaks (where you replaced gaskets and parts), it idles, and it drives
" then let them take it off for their first spin, you ride with them to make sure if they abuse it, you can tell them why they spun a bearing. After demonstrating the car and letting them drive it, that should be proof enough that you did the job right and now it is in thier hands.

I've never charged anyone for anything I've done LT1 related (susp repl. to adjusting valves to air foils to motor swaps to heads/cam installs). For the very reason that I am not a professional, I do not own a shop nor do I have the money to compensate if something goes drastically wrong.
