basically my starter blew up. part of the case that holds gear in there broke right off.

when i went to start other day it cranked over a few times and then a big bang then tried once more and a big bang so it obviously broke it when that happened. i found the piece in bottom of flywheel housing.

but why is my question i guess. stock starter and nothing was changed with it. has this ever happened before to anyone?

i can see starters just dying but to break? it got bound up somehow i take it. maybe starter was on its way out and it didn't disengage properly? just a guess.

just dont want to get another starter and same thing happen.
