What is VATS

I was looking at getting my PCM programmed and there was an option to disable the VATS. Was just wondering what it is?

Vehicle anti theft system. It's the system that reads the key pellet to allow the car to start.

So it's the thing that reads the chip in your key? Not the alarm system right.

if the VATS system was programmed out the PCM would you still have keyless entry?
would anything else be affected? alarm system?

keyless entry will not be affected... but then you don't have to buy a key for 90 bucks if you lose your stocker. new keys wont require the "chip" aka resistor

my key was only 30 bucks lol. i had vats issues before. my own car thought i was trying to steal it. what it was was the previous owner had it bypassed and the resistor connection went bad so i just hooked the system back up. one day i'll bypass it again. i wish i had a flashable pcm to just disable it that way.
