What type of oil to use?

I know this question is probably on here every other week, but I would like to know what kinda oil to run in my car. I was going to just go ahead and get some royal purple but then I figured I might be better off with a cheaper synblend or something? Car is stock LT1 with just under 60k miles and I dont plan on any serious mods other then boltons any time soon. Thanks

I run Valvoline durablend. Some people stand by full synthetic, others will say regular oil for high milage cars or what not. Honestly I dont think it really matters. Since you have 60k on yours, run whatever is lighter on the wallet.

I run Redline 10W30 because it's synthetic and keeps the engine cleaner. However, the oil is expensive but that isn't much of an issue for me since I don't drive my Camaro too often anymore. It's usually garaged up for the better part of the week so I only end up changing oil about every 6 months. Mobile 1 is almost equally as good and easier to find in most cases. If you don't have performance car shops in your finding Royal Purple or Redline but be a problem. While many shops in my area carry Redline I haven't found any that carry Royal Purple.

The most important factor in oil is making sure it's changed on a regular basis. An engine running dino oil versus synthetic or a blend will have the same engine life.

Mobil 1 5w-30.

That's the wt. suggested for my 97SS and that's the wt and Brand recommended for Vettes.

Right or wrong. Works for me.

I run Schaeffer Supreme 7000 synthetic blend 5w30 in my LT1, and Royal Purple 5w30 in my wife's 2000 Civic. I also change oil for my mom and sister, I'm running 0w30 Castrol Formula SLX (from Germany) in my sister's 99 Civic, and Castrol GTX HM 5w30 in my mom's 94 Probe GT.

Mobil 1. 149,000 miles and still doesn't burn a drop of oil.
