also how do you fill it up, I heard that you have to use a pump and a hose because its so hard to get in there.

I just changed to Honda ATF from the Honda Dealership. It works pretty well, and the shifting feels a little smoother now.

I've heard this is not a good fluid for the T-56, because it is to thick. Just hearsay though. The Honda ATF is good because it has a heat reducing additive for tight spaces.(Like in Hondas) Maybe the ol Mobil one synthetic would be good also.

I don't have it, but Horsepower TV gained something like 3-5 hp by replacing diff, trans, and oil with Royal Purple. I'm getting that stuff when I do mine.

How long have you been running that in your tranny? Just wondering if you're having any problems, I've always been a Mobil 1 fan.

With over 500 passes down the 1/4 mile with my car powershifting, my transmission shifts as smooth as silk. I use Mercedes-Benz synthetic ATF, not because its the best but because I can get it for free from work. I think so long as you use an ATF the equivalent of Dexron III which is what is recommended by GM, you should be okay.

How do you know when to stop? Why not just use the drain/fill plug?

Why not use gear oil?

You just put in 4 quarts. If you use the fill plug it's a PITA unless you have a setup like your local jiffy lube does.

When I had my tranny rebuilt by D&D Performance I asked them what to run and they told me the cheapest stuff I could find. I went with synthetic, and then when I pulled the tranny and replaced it with the Autozone cheap sh*t. Believe it or not the cheap sh*t is considerably smoother shifting FWIW.

I pour mine in from teh top. I pour in three full bottles and about 80% in of the last bottle, since it requires 3.8 quarts. If you're real **** about it, you can open the fill plug and let the excess drip out of there. I know that too much fluid is bad, but I figure that much human error is certainly negligable.
