what it takes for LT1 to hang with z06 (12ish 1/4)

this is not the typical post where your going to read and see some person bought a car and just wants to beat a friends car so he can be the fastest person. so please do not stereotype this and go to another post before reading or just click off. iam truly acquiring to get my 1994 fbody to be in the low to mid 12s range, and a z06 happens to be in that range and i would like to hang with one. iam interested in your input and value your opinions and light on this topic....- read on.............

what kind of mods would you reccomend or suggest to hang with a z06. my buddy owns a 2002 and i would like to be able to hang with him in the mid 12s range.
If i get my ducks in a row, i will be installing LE1 heads, a procharger p600b s/c, LT headers & cb exhaust, and a good tune.
Im hoping to squeeze 400+ rwhp out of this setup with the other mods in my sig. would this bring me to the 12.5ish 1/4mile time?

also curious of any of you who are currently there or close to the 12s brink.

thanks for reading and please post. all opinions and info is welcome:-D

Just giving you crap.
Anyway, for the goal of mid 12's, an LE1 combo with a good stall & tune will have no problem with that. If you want to go FI, I'd build accordingly (short block, lower compression, forged, etc) and not try to mix and match NA combos with it.

From what I've seen of Z06's they are good for low 12's on street tires. They put out 360-370 rwhp stock and they are a few hundred pounds lighter then F bodies. You should be able to get low 12's with heads cam and bolt ons at full weight but you'll need more than 370 rwhp because you will weigh more.

I'm running 306 cam and boltons at full weight and with good track conditions I'm sure I should be able to get a 12.5 out of it. The heads are coming in the future and I hope to see an 11.9 then. Of course traction will also be the deciding factor.

Well a procharger into an LE1 top end (ask bret about a blower cam) and then longtubes with a good flowing exhaust would be more then enough to hang with a Z06. That setup even with the small pully on the blower would probably put you into the 450-475 RWHP range and if you can hook it all you would be almost if not in the 10 second ET range.

If you go with all of your "planned" mods. then you shouldn't have a problem hanging with a stock z06.

If that is the case, then the Z06 will have to plan some mods. to keep up with you.

Re: what it takes for LT1 to hang with z06 (12ish 1/4)

There are a number of people on the forums that are using LE1 heads with an LE2 cam and hitting over 400rwhp NA, each of these people were using 6 speeds though. Now i would imagine if you go with Lloyds heads and bret designs a nice blower cam for you and you run 6lbs of boost or more then you should be above 450rwhp without breaking a sweat. Even through an auto.

Anyone wanna back me up on this? I see FI cars over 500rwhp all the time on these boards.

FI guys also set up their shortblocks for the right compression and durability... Just my opinion, but I would wait until the short block is built for FI.

For the goals mentioned, a decent cam and heads package from Lloyd (and stall, tune, etc) will get the job done no sweat.

correct me if I'm wrong but even through an auto, the track times will be close. You may not register the rwhp of an m6 but will probably get a better time at the track with the auto
