What is the tach voltage supposed to be at idle?

Hey, I was wondering what voltage the tach wire is supposed to read at idle. Mine reads 0.7V at idle and goes up to about 5V when the throttle is pressed. I'm asking this because my car starts and then dies after a few seconds, when I'm using my alarm's remote start feature. My remote starter has worked awesome in the past, but after my engine was hydrolocked recently, and then repaired, the remote starter doesn't wanna work right.
