Spring requirements: w/ 1.5RRS

closed 120# @ 1.875
open: 312# @ 1.375

Min. RPM 2000
Max. RPM 6000
Valve Float. 6500

I used REV Springs rated at 550 even though the exh lift w/1.6rr is 553.

I doubt that I will have a problem. Hope not.

Have you considered the Comp beehive springs, or are those out of your price range? I know there have been proven gains over "normal" springs.

I'll keep my options open to everything. What kind of gains and is this the Comp Cams 26918 Conical Spring and what components aould you recommend. The 26918's are for LS-1, does that matter?

it looks like the Comp 918's would be cheaper in the long run. You can use stock retainers and locks. That's a big savings over the Isky springs, where you'll need retainers & locks. Can they use stock GM locator seats?

Here is the total write up on the beehives (if that is what you
were asking):

26915 or 26918 springs depending on the pressure you want.
I think the 26915s are just fine for stock/mild applications.

Comp Press Release

If you want to go with 7 degree hardware:

787-16 retainers
648-16 locks

If you want to go with 10 degree hardware (super locks):

795-16 retainers
611-16 locks (standard), or
614-16 locks (+.050)

Using the standard hardware you should end up with a 1.75"
installed height. With the +.050 super locks you should
get a 1.80" installed height. Depending on your rockers and
lift numbers, a close check of valve stem seal to retainer
clearance and rocker to retainer clearance is warranted.

Also, FYI for a stock spring pocket:
The LT4 spring seats will not work with these springs. The OD
of the seat shoulder is .920" while the ID of the 26915 spring
is .875". The spring does not sit flush with the seat. So far I
have not found an off the shelf seat that will work.

I've run the Rev springs with stock locaters,Isky 235-D with L98 locaters and the Comp 941's with sucess with the Crane 210/224. I like the Isky springs the best. Call Thunder racing and ask Paul for the combo that Frank95z runs. I shift at 6200 with no problems with these springs. Frank95z

When you run the Isky 235-D springs with the L98 locators,
what is your installed height? Also, what valve stem seals
do you use and what is the clearance on the exhaust side
at max lift?

Truedualws6 When I ran the Isky springs and the gm locaters I used the K-line valve stem seals that thunderracing sells. They work great. With stock valves the 235's set up at 1.750 with the gm locaters and no shims. That gives .046 on the exhaust from coilbind. I ran these springs for years with no trouble. I currently run the Comp 941's with a bit more valvespring pressure. No performance increase but i got them at a good price . I shift at 6200 normally, but have run to 6600 with no problems. Good Luck Frank95z
