what sort of gains with...

bigger valves, angle job, etc. Everything except for porting.

Ive decided that the 224/230 or the 227/233 would be the biggest Id want to go on totally stock heads. Would I gain by going with a bit of a bigger cam if I have everything done to the heads except for porting?

Just curious

Why not just get your heads ported but leave your stock valves in. You would make more power that way and it probably wouldn't cost that much more than putting in bigger valves depending upon who you go to.

Thanks for the replies but can anyone answer my question? If I didn't want to port, yet wanted everything else done to a set of stock heads, what sort of gains could I see?

You will probably get a lot of the same answers. Its pointless to waste your money slapping in bigger valves when for the price of that you could get some decent port work done and see 10x's the gains. Its like having a straw that starts out small and gets bigger. It doesn't matter how big it is in the end its still not gonna flow anymore because of the bottle neck at the beginning.

Thanks but please quit posting in my thread. This has nothing to do with money, or even what gives more gains. My question is what sort of gains can I see by doing everything except for porting a pair of stock castings.

Id you can't answer my question then please stop posting.

Thanks

I know it has nothing to do with money it has to do with intelligent modding. Ok i did some calculations and i figured you would gain about 1.43972 hp off this. Look at it this way i'm getting your post TTT so people can tell you its a waste of time.

Re: what sort of gains with...

you might see 25-50rwhp and that's being pretty generous. bigger valves won't necessarily increase velocity/swirl without a good port/polish.

Edit: if you plan on camming your setup this might actually cramp the performance even more, but should still be good for a solid few HP.

LOL, you're the idiot if you believe those numbers. Some people slap on ported heads with bigger valves and only gain that much. I guess people can just come in and throw out any numbers and you'll believe them. 75 rwhp might be a good guess. . Nothing against you birchman but stock heads with bigger valves isn't gonna gain you 25-50rwhp. 5-10 rwhp Max.
