What size injectors?

Hi, I've just finished a rebuild of the LT1 in my 94 Z28. The car sat for a number of years and my mechanic is telling me the injectors are toast now. The car has LT headers and the LT4 Hotcam kit installed, stock heads, intake and throttle body. Will stock injectors be fine or should I take this opportunity to upgrade? If upgrade, what would be the best choice?

Also, the mechanic mentioned that the fuel pump in the tank might need to be replaced and suggested getting a hi performance one, any advice on that?

Thanks!

The stock injectors are pretty good as long as they're all working correctly. You shouldn't need them until you do a cam, even then it would have to be a decent sized one. Same thing for the fuel pump. Unless it's broken or you're doing major upgrades, you shouldn't need to replace it. If you do, most people go with the walbro 255lph pump. If you're planning on N2O anytime soon, a dry shot will usually require larger injectors and with any med-large shot I think you should upgrade the pump. Ask around in the N2O section if that's what you're planning.

I'll have some stock injectors for sale soon if you're interested. If you really wanna spend the money and are planning on the upgrades I mentioned before anytime soon, the Ford injectors are popular, but I think the Delphi/Seimens injectors are better.

i say get a new mechanic, your stock pump should be fine, and if your budget is tight get stock injectors. if you have the money then get the racetronix fp kit and get some slightly bigger injectors maybe. what are you using for tuning?

Thanks guys, I plan on going with a MadZ28 tune. The stock injectors are 24lbs right?

Thanks,
Steve

Correct. If your car has been sitting a long time, it's very possible that rust or dirt from the tank clogged the pump. Change the filter first and see how it runs.
